Mitsubishi Repair: accessory belt (95 Eclipse GS, manual), power steering pump, eclipse gs

Question
The belt that powers the Power Steering pump just came off (did not break). Can I safely drive this to a mechanic to have it fixed? Does that belt work anything else (like the water pump or alternator)

Answer
Russ,
That belt doesn't drive anything else.  You can drive without it, but your steering will be VERY difficult and you will not able to turn the wheel quickly if you have to avoid an accident, so be extremely careful if you drive.  If the belt is still just hanging, you may just want to cut it off.  You don't want it getting tangled with any surrounding belts or other nearby moving parts.  Odds are, your mechanic would replace the belt anyway.  If all your drive belts have more than 60,000 miles on them, they should all be replaced.
Good luck!
