Mitsubishi Repair: 92 eclipse brakes, rear disc brakes, disc brakes

Question
my rear disc brakes make a very loud rubbing and grinding sound when the brakes are applied and sometimes while in reverse. its not a screech or squeal. i tried to take the calipers of the rear to change the pads but the pads look fine and i couldn't even get the caliper off because the e-brake cable was to short so i tried to take off the e-brake cable but couldn't even do that. any suggestions

Answer
Mat: You should go out and buy yourself a repair manual, most parts store have them and they cost around $20.00. Well worth the money, as that manual would walk you through how to fix your brakes. You know don't you that where is a anti-rattle clip on the brakes on your car? I tell you the first time the anti-rattle clip broke on my car, it about scared me to death. But that would be your loud rubbing and grinding sound. Does not hurt anything just sounds pretty bad. But really without making you mad or anything, if you get the manual it would help you so much more than I can. In that if you have a problem, you can check the pictures and then read up on what or how you should be doing the brakes. That would be my suggestion. God bless: Linda
