Mitsubishi Repair: 94 Talon wont start, auto parts store, firing order

Question
Alright I have a 94 Talon 5 speed 1.8, it turns over but wont start, it fires, there is spark to the plugs, just switched starters and it sounds better then it did before, if possible could you help me out and if you know, what is the fire order on the engine, and my friend thinks the timing might be off, so how do i set the timing?

Answer
Kris,
There are lots of things that will prevent your engine from starting.  Lack of air, lack of fuel, and poor ignition are main contributors.  It's what is causing that to happen is the tricky thing to find.  Most any auto parts store will carry a Haynes or Chiltons service manual for your car.  It'll give you the firing order (which I believe is 4-1-2-3 for your car), how to set the timing, and lots of service procedures you can go through to figure out your starting issue.

You should also check your car's computer.  Read this article for further information:

If your ECU is failing, it usually will cause starting problems.
Good luck!
