Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 eclipse alarm, no horn, eclipse spyder gt, valet mode

Question
have a 2001 Mit Eclipse Spyder GT Conv 6cyl,  I'm not sure at what point but the horn no longer blows when you engage the alarm system.  Thinking it may be the horn itself I tried blowing it and works just fine.  The lights still blink and the alarm still works in every other way.  Is there some kind of reset that maybe I can try? Is the valet mode on?? I have contacted 4-5 service places in Chicago and nobody had a clear answer. I have held down the alarm button for 10 sec, didn't work...I have looked for a valet switch under the drivers wheel, no luck. Thanks

Answer
Jim: Sounds like a switch to me, like the piece that you push the button on to turn on the alarm system, that switch in there is not working as it should anymore. If the lights still blink and the horn works just not when you push that button. I would get a new piece for a better word. Or you could try taking it and the car to a dealership to see if they might be able to reprogram the piece that you push to set all this. If you think about how many times you have pushed that button, the skin oil and well it does hang off the keys; so it goes get into a lot of things. With time they do just wear so try that. I hope this helps and God bless: Linda
