Mitsubishi Repair: trunk latch, themselfs, wd40

the trunk latch from the inside or with remote doesn't work.  trunk will open with key only.  When I use the remote or inside release, it makes a sound but nothing happens.

Phil: Have you checked to see if the trunk latch is the piece that moves it have maybe come loose somehow. So that it can not move the trunk latch.Could be the switch that moves the trunk latch is bad, you should test that or have it tested. You do not say what kind of car this is or how old it is. If you when you use the inside release that could a problem with a cable, have you tried adding a bit of wd40 as to kind of grease the cable and if that does not help then the cable might be broken. Either buy yourself a repair manual for your car, most parts stores have them, they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money for those that want to fix things themselfs. Or take the car to a shop and let them fix it for you. Oh hey Haynes is a good repair manual to get as it does not have so many car engines in it. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
