Mitsubishi Repair: 2000 Mitsubushi Eclispe, mitsubishi eclipse gt, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6, for a couple of weeks the engine started to miss fire and just yesterday the Check engine light came on, I put some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and took it to the shop, They said it need a major tune up so I got that, but the check engine light is still on and my car still miss fires, most at low speeds, the shop thinks it needs a new distributor? the code says random misfire what do you think?

Answer
OK first thing is was your wires and plugs replaced? What kind of plugs did you use? These motors only like stock plugs from the dealer and could give you problems with other ones.
Also make sure that your timing is set perfect! How many miles on it?
Has the timing belt been done? Answer these questions and I'll get you through this. The crazy part about this is that I have a 1997 eclipse gs spyder with a 2.4 and not even a week ago did this happen to me and come to find out that it was the plugs, I put plugs in from a parts store and ran great for about to weeks and the next thing I know I was driving on two cylinders and have a code that said random cylinder misfire, So I switched them out with the stock ones NGK and the car drives to the T. Please get back to me on this and I'll get you through this, Thanks Kevin
