Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Galant power locks, power locks, lock switch

Question
QUESTION: I have a 95 galant and when i try and use my key to open the driver side door the key or lock wont turn.  When I try opening the passenger side door it's fine.  The power lock switch works somewhat because the locks will turn really slowly or half way. Can you help me?-Thank you

ANSWER: While trying to open from the driver side can you hear it trying to work? If yes take your door panel off to see if something is binding.
If you don't hear anything you most likely have a bad master switch. Please get back to me on the update thanks again, Kevin

QUESTION: Yea, I tried opening it from the driver side door, and the key will not move either left or right, and it makes no sound.  I can open the passenger side door, and the power locks work fine when I press unclock from the passenger side door.  When I turn my car off and get out and lock the door the power lock button works fine on the driver side too. I appreciate your expertise-Thank You.

ANSWER: OK real quick I just want to be on the same page as you.

pressing the buttons on the driver side or passenger side with the switch it will unlock and lock both doors? But when you use the key on the passenger side it works also? When you try using it on the driver side the key won't even turn? is this all correct? If not let me know the proper way I'm a little confused.

QUESTION: Yes thats correct

Answer
OK this seams easy. Need to take of you door panel and lock to see if a wire or something is holding the lock mechanism. If it's not try spraying some wd40 on the lock area and see if that helps. If this does not work you will need to get a new lock installed. If you can do it yourself awesome if not take it to you mechanic and have them install a new mechanism. Hope this helps thanks,Kevin
