Mitsubishi Repair: alternator woes, splash guard, splash guards

Question
must i remove the splash guards in the wheel well to remove the alternator in my 99 spyder??  seems like a lot of effort for one bolt.

I don't think it's required to take off the splash guard to remove the alternator.  But if removing the splash guard makes the job easier, then do it.  Just remember, you'll have to install the alternator and that may be more difficult if you do not remove the splash guard.
