Mitsubishi Repair: A/C compressor, eclipse gst, blown fuse

Question
I have a 95 eclipse gst, and the A/C doesn't work.  The fan blows air, and the heat works, and it has freon, so I'm pretty sure that leaves something wrong with the compressor.  What is the average cost of having the compressor replaced, and will it save money to get a working compressor from a junkyard?

Answer
Joshua: People ask me this all the time, but I have no idea what they charge for such thing in your area. You will have to call around to different parts stores to see what they tell you. It is very costly though, you could do the compressor from a junkyard but no promises that will work for you. I would do with the new one. Though you should take the car to a shop, they might find another less costly problem for what is going on with your car. How old is the belt that runs the compressior? It could be slipping and not doing its job. Or it might a blown fuse someplace too. So you really need to have a shop check this out before you spend the money for something maybe you really did not need to replace. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
