Mitsubishi Repair: 2006 Mitusbishi Lancer ES engine stalls when stopped, mitsubishi dealerships, mitsubishi lancer

Question
Hi,
We bought a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer ES last year (march 2006) and lately we are seeing that it stalls when stopped. RPM jumps 600 - 2000 and then it stops. Dealer could not identify the cause. They reset ISC settings but no luck. I am thinking of replacing MAF sensor??

I noticed that if i start the engine and let it run for 5 - 7min till the engine is hot, i do not see this problem (but sometimes it happens).

I would appreciate any help with this problem.

Answer
Vamsi,
Seeing that your car is still under warranty, I would insist the dealership replace any and all items on the car until they get this fixed.  Replacing the ISC would be a good start.  Also having the MAF replaced could rule that out as well.  Your dealership may be reluctant to do so because those are expensive parts, and being that they are under warranty, the dealership makes no money on replacing them.  But if you get any push back from dealership, insist to talk with the service manager on replacing those items.  You may even want to contact any other Mitsubishi dealerships in your area to see if they would be more receptive.  Not all dealerships are the same, and some will be more helpful than others.
Good luck!
