Answer
Carmen: Before I can answer this, I have some questions for you. Like who told you the crankshaft is warped? Because the crankshaft is what runs the pistons if it was warped to much, the pistons would not run right and either your engine would throw a piston. Or it just would not run. Have you had your engine rebuilt at anytime, so that they would have seen the crankshaft. As the crankshaft is on the bottom of the engine, there are thrust bearings that when the crankshaft turns it pushes the pistons up and down. Well really there are upper thrust bearings and lower thrust bearings. So for someone to say your crankshaft is warped without rebuilding the engine. Makes me wonder if someone is not trying to get you to do a lot of work on your engine when really the problem might be someplace else. Are you having problems with the car, if so what? Did you take the car to some shop and this is what they told you? You should go to a parts store and buy youself a repair manual for your car, they cost around $20.00 and read up on your car. Then when you took the car to a shop, they might not be able to pull the wool over your eyes on things. Because your question is a good one how would a shop know that the crankshaft is warped, how would that have happen? So please answer my questions. Because I have to say that is a new one for me. I have never heard of the crankshaft being warped. I know I worked on a car with one that was bad, but it was because they had pulled a trailer with the car and pushed it to hard. The car ran but not very good and with time if it had not been fixed; would have killed off the engine. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
