Mitsubishi Repair: car problems, altenator, belt dressing

Question
I have a 2001 eclipse. I thought that there was something wrong with my belt at first but later I found out that it's going to cost me around $500.00 to fix my altenator. I went to midas for a check up. They said that they're going to try to save my belt because of the belt dressing that was sprayed on. Overall it sounds like it's a lot. Should i get another opinion???

Answer
Dee: Get another opinion that sounds pretty costly to me. I don't know about that belt dressing that was sprayed on? I wonder if this shop is not pulling your leg somehow. I mean changing an alternator is not the hard, then they are going to save your belt so that should save you some money too. So why $500.00. I would call some parts stores and find out what that altenator would cost for your car. Still I think a second opinion would be the way to go. Have not always heard good things about Midas shops and how they treat women. Keep me posted on this. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
