Mitsubishi Repair: Battery replacement - car stalling, many different things, vacuum hose

Question
Replaced battery car starts fine.  Drove 25 miles hwy miles-exited hwy stopped at light and stalled out.  Has happed twice.  Is there a fuel filter that may need to be replaced or the injectors replaced.  What may be causing problem.  I also noticted when giving gas it seems to take it but then sort of jump suddenly kind of like a hesitation.  SWF needs advice!  Thanks

Answer
Rebecca: These are ideas from my repair manual. The problem is that it could be one of many different things. One thing though if you had that battery replaced, make sure the cables are clean at the ends there they hook onto the battery and make sure the cables are tight. These little cars like those cables tight on the battery. Then I would check the fuel filter but also have the fuel pump tested to make sure it is putting out enough fuel. A shop could do that testing for you, or a friend with the right tools and a repair manual for your car. If your car is a 99 model or older I would replace the distributor cap and rotor. When is the last time you did a tune up on the car? Such as stark plugs, wires, that distributor cap and rotor? How old is the air filter? Should have the car coded to check what the computer and sensors are doing, might have a weak sensor someplace. The computer is only as good as all the sensors through out your car's engine. Then it could be a bad vacuum hose someplace that a shop would have to find for you, as they are often than not hard to find. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
