Mitsubishi Repair: 97 eclipes, shift fork, transmission shop

i have a 97 eclipes 2.0 gs no turbo . my problem is the gears wont go in when the car is on but when off they do. so I'm thinking the cable is not out but i may  need a knew clutch?...

This problem can be due to a number of problems.  Worn cables, bad shift fork, or even worn out synchros will prevent you from being able to shift gears.  I would recommend having the brought to either a transmission shop or the dealership to inspect the transmission.
