Question
i was driving my car on the highway, my car started overheating smoke started coming out i pulled over and turned the car off waited about 30-45 mins and my car didn't start after that i had it towed to pepboys and they said that theirs no compression but didn't give me an explanation why it overheated or what was wrong with it, my engine was steaming fluid from the engine head, please tell me what could be wrong, i had the radiator and thermostat replaced and new hoses 3-4 months before it overheated.

Answer
Bianca,
Overheating can happen for a number of reasons.  Excluding the new parts you bought a few months ago, your problem could be from, but not limited to:
- A lack of fluid
- Improper mixture of fluid
- Malfunctioning radiator fans
- Blocked radiator
- Malfunctioning water pump
- Clog/blockage in a water line

As for your engine, the reason why you do not have compression is probably because your head gasket has blown.  This is usually a result of overheating. The cost to fix this can be quite high due to the labor costs.  Though you should call around for estimates to replace a head gasket, this is one job I would recommend the dealership handle.  They are usually more expensive than most garages, but they have all the parts and expertise on hand.
Good luck!
