Mitsubishi Repair: 2004 Mitsubishi Eclispe GTS heater, mitsubishi eclispe, autozone

Question
My 2004 Mitsubishi Eclispe GTS heater isn't working for some reason.  It blows air but not "hot" air.  I let it run for over 30 min and still only blew out cold air.  Please help!  Is this something that I could fix on my own with the help of Auto Zone or something?

Answer
Candice: Sounds like the thermostat is sticking but then does your car temp go up? Not that it is blowing air into the car but the temp gauage on the car. Because it could be the water pump is going bad too. Still I think you best take the car to an AutoZone and see that they tell you. I don't know if you have tools, a repair manual for your car or what you know as to fixing cars. So I would do that AutoZone. It would take removing the coolant, removing some bolts, taking the old thermostat out and putting in the new. I think I would try that and see if that fixed your problem. The water pump has very small spots in it that will start to leak small amounts of water, when it is going bad. Have you seen any green colored water on things in the engine? Or under the car, though it would not be a puddle or anything that large. I guess AutoZone could check that for you too. But if the car's temp is not moving, I would say that it is the thermostat that is stuck. And that would be an easy fix for a shop. I hope this helps and God bless: Linda
