Mitsubishi Repair: I hate my car, spark plug wires, manifold vacuum

Question
k here goes. About 3 months ago I decided to change the spark plugs on my 2001 Eclipse GT 3.0 L V6. After I changed them the car had a miss to it. Since then I have changed the EGR valve and solenoid, spark plug wires, rechanged the spark plugs and checked gap, distributor cap and rotor, and intake gasket hoping that would fix the miss. It was running alot better after I changed the dist cap and rotor, but the check engine light still came back with cylinder 3 missfire. we changed spark plug and fuel injector number 3 with number 2 and it still came back with number 3 missfire. Now here's the amazing part. I was driving today and was just gonna leave it alone because it was running fine, and the car shut off and won't turn back on. It turns over but doesn't start. Mom's boyfriend said there is no spark happening. What should I do?

Answer
You seem to be hitting all the required tests. I would do 3 things next.

1) There is a TSB (tsb 05-13-004rev) for misfires on these vehicles that require a PCM reflash. Contact your dealer to see if this has been done. This will include the replacement to a high heat-range spark plug (the plugs get changed AFTER the reflash)

2) Install a quality vacuum guage directly to MANIFOLD vacuum and look for an very steady needle reading around 20". Any quick fluttering around of the needle indicates a mechanical problem.

3) Run a compression test. Be very careful with the #3 test, but do them all. #3 misfire could be another cylinder, but the computer is misjudging the faulty cylinder. There may be a relearn procedure for this, but I couldn't find one. The dealer would be a good source of information for this.
