Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 Eclipse RS Starting Problem, fuel pressure regulator, mileage engine

Question
Hi,

I have a little problem with my car. It's a 1997 Eclipse RS. When the engine is cold and I attempt to start it, it has a rough erratic idle and then quits. It takes several attempts to get it to stay running. Once it's warmed up for a few minutes, there are no problems. It has new injectors, fuel pump and filter, fuel pressure regulator, TPS, new low mileage engine, new radiator, and thermostat.

Thanks,

Alan

Answer
Alan: You did not put down the miles which would help me a lot. But mean while, I would have the car coded. Got an AutoZone close by? Sounds like a weak sensor(s) or maybe a problem with the computer. Then also when is the last time you did a good tune up? There is a sensor is the distibutor and if your distibutor is carbon tracked it could make the car hard to start. But stark plugs, wires, distibutor cap and rotor goes along way in keeping a car running as it should. Still that coding would be a good idea too. Also check the battery(how old is it?) and the cables.. these little cars like their cables tight and their batteries new. Hope this helps and God bless! Linda
