Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi 3000GTSL, automatic transmission, bolts

Question
I have a 1993 3000GTSL with Automatic Transmission. This second Trans has 25,000 miles on it. Just recently the Shift handle has become loose no matter what position it is in P-R-N-D-1-2. You can literally shake the handle around. It used to be very tight. Any ideas on why and what might need to be done. Or will it be OK like it is?
Thanks,
:-)
Jim

Answer
Jim: I would say there is some bolts that have come loose. You really need to find them and tighten them back up. If you can not find them, then take the car to a shop. As you can still shift like this right? I had a car once that the shifter was on the floor, because of the area I live in; it has started to rust loose from the floor. I could still shift the car, but it was not fun. So you really do want to get this fixed and it should be ok, to use the car till you do. Just becareful, not to knock it out of gear or something on that order. Take care now: Linda
