Mitsubishi Repair: Mits Montero Sport, montero sport, fuel pumps

Question
My battery went dead (left lights on)...I replaced it, yet it still won't start...seems to be choking for gas...What could be up?

Answer
Noel: Have you checked the cables to make sure they are on tight and right? Have you checked the belts to make sure they are not slipping? How old is your alternator? Could be you cooked your fuel pump, do you run your car down to empty before you fill it up every time? I have been replacing a lot of fuel pumps due to this high cost of fuel, but the fuel is what keeps the pump cool and so do that to much with time you will cook the pump. You can have the fuel pump checked to see if it is working. You could have killed off a relay with the battery, in with the engine is two or three black boxes in them is relays. Might check those to see if they are all ok.  Is there is any check engine light on? Try taking the distributor cap loose, turn it left or right to see if the car will then start. Well here are some ideas to try. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
