Mitsubishi Repair: mitsubishi diamante antenna, mitsubishi diamante, antenna wire

i am not havin good reception on my 02 mitsubishi diamante, (i bought it new) radio, is it the antenna? how do i replace it? (the antenna)

Jorge: A few questions to ask first, you said you bought the car new back in 2002 so did the radio work good then? If you drive some miles from home does the radio do better or worse? Have your checked the antenna? Does it feel loose to the touch? The problem is that if you replace the antenna, that your problem might not be in the antenna that you can see sticking out of your car's body, but rather the wire that runs from the antenna to the radio. In fact the antenna wire might be coming loose from behind the radio. So I would have that checked out before I replaced the antenna. You might be able to take a panel loose in the trunk on the side with the antenna and check the wires on the bottom of the antenna. Maybe your best bet would be to take the car to a shop that works on radios or else the dealership where you bought the car; then have them check it. As I think is more in the wiring than the antenna. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
