Mitsubishi Repair: 2000 Galant Windows and Locks all stopped working at the same time, automatic tranny, control switches

Question
Hi Anthony,

The power windows and locks on my 2000 Galant(LS)(Automatic tranny) stopped working all at the same time (with the exception of the passenger power door lock).  After pressing the driver door lock back and forth 3 times it seemed as if it lost a connection and now has no power at all going to any of the doors or windows.  I checked all of the fuses and the links (they are all good).  I also took the door apart to see if I had power to the switches.  I got the doors to lock and unlock, but nothing from the windows......

I noticed that you answered a very similar question regarding power windows and locks for a 1996 galant on 11/18/2006 and your answer was a faulty control switch.  Did replacing the control switch in the driver door do the trick?  If so, do you think it will work for a 2000 galant?
At this point I do not know what else to do (and do not really want to put a lot of money into this car)......
I really appreciate you help!

Thanks,
Nicole

Answer
Nicole,
I don't remember getting a reply from the submitter of that question.  But I would recommend the same thing for your car.  The tests for your 2000 Galant would be the same and a new control switch may fix your problem.  Those control switches tend to get worn and go bad if they are excessively used and if they get water and dirt in them.  If your mechanic finds that the control switch is the problem, he may be able to find you a used one, which would be much cheaper than a new one.
Good luck!
