Mitsubishi Repair: 90 Eclipse headlights, axle grease, wd 40

Question
i have a 90 eclipse 2.0 GS pop up lights. My problem is that the lights will pop up but they wont go down,i have to manually twist them down, every so often they will go down but it is very rare.Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

Answer
Shane,
The gearing and linkage arms on the pop-lights do tend to wear over time and can get sticky from lack of lubrication.  Especially if you drive with your lights on in the rain and snow (if you have that).  My own 90 Eclipse was having the same problem, but I was lucky that I was able to fix it by simply applying some WD-40 to all the joints and linkages of the lights.  If you remove the plastic covers around the sides of the lights, you'll be able to gain better access to the joints to spray them down.  You can also apply a few drop of clean engine oil or axle grease for an even better lubrication method.
Good luck!
