Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 eclipse, coolant temperature sensor, radiator cap

Question
I have a 2001 with a/c problems the car a/c works if it is not  very hot but if it is the a/c light blinks green and blows hot air. All sensors are at spec and new compressor and condenser. mechanic says the system is all good but still does not work. Said it may be something to do with the computer?

Answer
Vincent: The computer of a car, gets all its thoughts of all the sensors through out the car and then puts its ideas on how the car should run. I don't think it has a lot to do with the ac. Other when with the coolant temperature sensor. Please don't take this wrong but does your mechanic have training on working with the ac? As I would check the water pump to make sure it is pushing the water around the engine as it should, I would check the thermostat to make sure it is working as it should. Also make sure the radiator cap is holding the system pressure as it should. Look, you should get a second or different mechanic to look at this car. Just to see whatever he would say. How about the belt that runs the compressor is it tight like it should and in good working order. Your mechanic saying it is the computer sounds more like to me, that he can not find the problem with your car so he is thinking maybe the computer. Your car is pretty new and so I would say I don't think it is the fault of the computer. But rather something easy like the cap on the radiator, the thermostat or something on that order. I got to ask how much antifreeze are you running in your car? Have you had that tested, you have to have the right amount for the ac to work right too. Might check the coolant temperature sending unit too. There is something that is not working right in your car, but I don't think it is the computer. They are very costly, so I would get a second mechanic to check your car out and see what he tells you. But don't tell him what the first guy said, if he says the computer too. Well have it tested before you go out to buy a new one, is the check engine light on or is the service engine light on? Because then it could be the computer something like that is on. As then the computer or it is finding a problem in the system. But get this checked out before you go out and buy a costly computer; when I don't think it is the computer. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
