QUESTION: DO you know where the EGR valve is located on a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant?

ANSWER: Jennifer: DO you work on cars? DO you know what it looks like? I can explain where it is but will you know what you are looking for? YOU need to go out and buy yourself a repair manual for your car, it will show you the picture of this part and where it is. But the part is up on the firewall just behind the engine, to replace it you need to detach the vacuum hose, remove the two EGR valve mounting bolts, remove the EGR valve from the intake manifold and then put in the new one. But a repair maunal would walk you through this and have pictures for you. Are you sure it is the EGR valve that is bad not the sensor in it? If you buy a repair manual for your car, try to get a Haynes as they don't have so many different engines as the Chilton manual and Haynes has more pictures to help you. QUESTION: Thank you, Linda. My husband has looked for a Haynes manual for this car and it only goes up to 2003.

Jennifer: Have your husband buy the 2003 manual as I believe there is not a lot of different between the 2003 and 2004 models. Besides it will show you where this EGR valve is at. If nothing else give an idea where it is and what you need to get looking for. Good luck! ~Linda~
