Audi Repair: Audi A4 2003 Central Locking System Faulty, blown fuse, fuse panel

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 Audi A4, recently the power locks, all interior lights, keyless
remote entry have stopped working.  The trunk will not open as well.  I have
checked the fuse box, battery, and changed the battery in keyless remote.
Nothing works.  I suspect there is a faulty central locking relay.  What do you
think?  Can you help me locate the central locking relay?

ANSWER: It could be the central locking module (it's not just a relay), but I don't think the interior lights are operated through that too.  If all of those systems failed at once, I would still suspect a blown fuse.  Did you check the fuses with a fuse checker or just visually?  I would check them with a fuse checker.  Let me know if you find something,  Jan

QUESTION: I checked the fuse with a fuse checker.  There was one blown fuse- nothing to
do with interior lights though.  I replaced that and still no luck.  The interior
lights are still not working, power windows not working, locking system not
working, trunk can not open...any other suggestions.

ANSWER: Oh well, close but no cigar...  Check that the fuse panel is getting positive power, perhaps one of the major fuses has blown.  There are fuses under the dash also, you have to remove the lower dash panel to get to these.  Let me know what you find,  Jan

QUESTION: The fuses below the dash are fine...could it be a central locking module?

Answer
It is, unfortunately, beginning to look like that.  Check that you get power at the control module, and if you do, it's probably time to check for a replacement.  I would check some salvage yards; you will not like the price at the dealer...  Good luck,  Jan
