Mitsubishi Repair: power steering belt keeps breaking, power steering pump, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I have a 92 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 1.8 motor in it, and the power steering belt keeps on breaking, I have already changed the timing belt, and the power steering pump, just wondering if you have run across this problem, please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Answer
Blake: Could be you are tighting the belt bolt to tight when putting on the new belt. Or else you could have a bad bearing on the pulley that the belt sits on. You should check that. But also check your power steering pump, it could be getting weak and so causing the belt to break. Even if the power steering oil is staying up, the pump could be not pumping as it should. So causing the belt to break. Might check the water pump to make sure it is working right too. You got to find out what is causing that belt to break. Try these ideas and see if anything pans out. Keep me posted. Hope these helps and good luck! Linda
