Mitsubishi Repair: Strange electrical problems, inline fuse, stock radio

Question
I recently acquired a 1996 Galant ES 2.4 engine. The stock radio kept cutting out from time to time so I replaced it. A few days ago an inline fuse to the radio blew out so I replaced it. I then went to the auto parts and got a plug-in to match the stock plug-in for the stock radio harness. Maybe something I during the install shorted something out because now I have no radio, clock, dome light, running lights and my auto alarm only works on manual. Plus I have no dash board lights. I checked all my fuses under the dash and under the hood and they all seem to be ok. Is there a relay or something that might have been affected? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Answer
John,
There could be a fusible link in your fuse box near your battery that has blown.  Make sure all the fuses in your fuse box under dash are properly seated.  You may want to also have your alternator load tested to be sure it's putting out the proper amount of current.  Most original Mitsubishi alternators last around 10 years.  So if your current alternator is the original, it may starting to fail.  Be sure that when you installed your new radio that it is properly grounded.  Also check the tail lights and brake lights to be sure they are all working as well.
Good luck!
