Mitsubishi Repair: grey smoke and idle, head gasket, vacuum leak

ok i have a 1991 mitshubishi eclipse automatic 4wd and about 4 months ago
i popped a tire and ive let it sat for a while now. now everytime i start the car
up  the idle goes up to 2000 rpm's but what concerns me the most is that
when i push on the gas and accelerate grey smoke comes out the exhaust
and is quite a bit too. do u if thats and engine problem and if so what could it
be and how  much would it be to go get it fixed. thanks for reading this any

Abel: I would have the car coded to rule out any problem with a weak sensor or the computer on the car. AutoZone will do this for free and then you would know more as to what is going on with your car. Is your car loosing any water or heating, though you said the smoke is grey in color, what might be grey to you well that might be white to me. If the car heats, is loosing water and that smoke; could have a weak head gasket. As one reason for the engine to jump up to 2000 rpm's. But then a sensor could do that too. You could have a vacuum leak too. I would check with the easy things first, as in checking to see if the car is loosing water, water in the oil and/or heating. I think your car has a weak head gasket. The way to have that checked is to get a compressure check on the engine. I hope this helps and good luck! Linda
