Mitsubishi Repair: Help Me, mitsubishi eclipse, large drain

Question
I have a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse it is a 2.0 liter with twin overhead cam non turbo. It is draining the battery every night. When i hook battery cable to the battery the engine control relay on firewall it makes contact. I tried a new relay nothing wrong with it the problem is where the relay leaves wires going back into the car.Something is causing the relay to short.Where could this be coming from. Also where do the relay wires go to or hook to.

Answer
Tommy,
I'm not sure how much help I can provide.  There are any number of shorts in the system that could be causing this.  Most of the high current wires that could be causing such a large drain on the battery are located at the ignition harness connected to the steering column.  Several of those wires connect directly to the battery, the starter relay, and ignition system.  If there are any voltage drops for any of those wires, you may be able to trace back where the short is coming from.
Good luck!
