Pontiac Repair: fiero, crankshaft bearings, valve stem seals

Question
QUESTION: i did not measure it i had my machine shop do all the precision and semi precision measuring for me. so try to cranks it up without the spark plugs in the block? when i turn the crankshaft i can hear the pistons build up presuure and relive pressure if that helps ne. thanks alot

ANSWER: Yes remove the splugs from the head. hearing the compression leaking past the rings is normal especially on a new engine the rings have not have time to seat up tight against the cylionder walls. try cranking it over with the p[lugs out and see if it cranks over and also when it starts to crank over it will build some oil pressure and lubricate the moving parts which may make it easier to spin. Did you torque all the parts down properly? Meaning the rod and crankshaft bearings? You didn't douoble check any of the work the machine shop did? They just gave you the parts and said this is the match you need for the crank/rods? It's always good to double check it anyways! see what happens and let know.

QUESTION: ok so i installed the new battery and installed new wires for it. it turned ovr and would keep on. but it blows blue flames out the tail pipe(rite now straight pipes). i think it is running was to rich. how can i fix that?

Answer
Blue smoke is oil. This has no catalitic converter on it? Does it run or when it's cranking it's blue smoke? If it does run and your gettin excessive smoke it can be a lot of things an engine with out a converter is not a good thing. The engine actually needs some back pressure that the converter creates in order to run correctly. If it it running rich "black smoke" you need a scan tool to see what the engine sensors are doing to make it run that way. It it's blue smoke the engine is burning oil either from the rings not seated or from the valve stem seals leaking oil into the combustion chambers.
