Question
i have a 2000 mitz galant es, when im driving the car will stay on a high gear and wont shift, i changed the trany and it still does it, i got it checked out and they said it could be a no.9 relay? or the computer. what do you think and do you know where the computer is located at.

Answer
Junior: You need to get yourself a repair manual for your car, it should then explain where that computer would be. The computer should be in and around the glove box. But some of these cars it sits in behind the radio. If it is a relay, when you open your hood of your car, standing in front of the car... look into the engine department.. there should be two or three black boxes. One should be on the driver side of the car up in the area of the fire wall. Then the other two or one each car is different.. on the other side of the engine. In those boxes are larger fuses and relays. On the cover it will explain what is in each box. You might check those, but if your remove one before you replace it with a new one; remove the neg. cable off the battery and then put it back on once the large fuse or relay is replaced with a new one. You could try removing the neg. cable off the battery, wait 5 minutes and put it back on to see if that might help. That will clear the computer or should unless the computer is bad. But look; got an AutoZone close by? They will code your car for free, that coding will kick out any problem with your car's computer or sensors. But you would be a print out that would show you what you really need. AutoZone could help you with that too. You car seem pretty new for the computer problem but then you did not say how many miles are on the car. So try this. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda :o)
