Mitsubishi Repair: 92 Diamante 3.0 SOHC no start, crank angle sensor, vacuum hose

Question
Hello, I washed my engine, started car, ran for tow seconds and died. now it won't start. Checked cap, no moisture. I have good spark. Timing is perfect. I have fuel.  Pulled out spark plugs. They were extremely wet with fuel. put back in after cleaning.  Car started(but still hard). Ran car for 15 minutes.  Shut off and tried the next morning.  Same problem, no start. It sounds like it wants to but doesn't. Please help

Answer
Tyler: Ok, you washed your engine, did you cover up the distributor cap, starter and the alternator? Takes three things for a car to start, stark(power), air and fuel. How about your battery and it's cables? How old is the battery? Are the cables tight? Are you sure the stark plug wires are in good shape, if one is bad the power for the stark plug would be going someplace else. You should have the car coded, sounds like a weak sensor someplace. Hard starting, from my repair manual, ignition components damp or damaged, could have loose, broke or disconnected wiring in the starting circuit. You took the distributor cap loose, are you sure you put it back on right? Or try taking it loose, then move it a bit one way or the other; then see if the car will start. There is a crank angle sensor in the distributor, so if the car starts then leave the distributor there and screw it down. I still think you got something very wet by washing that engine. Did you use a power washer when you did this? Check all the hoses around the engine, you might have blew a vacuum hose off and that could mess things up. Did you get the air filter wet? Should try to check that and dry it out if wet. It is nice to wash your engine but you got to becareful doing that too. As a high powered washer, forces the water into places that water should not be in. If nothing else take your car to an AutoZone and have it coded, they will code the car for free; you could have killed off a sensor someplace or got it wet. So that computer can not read it right and so will not let the car start. If you get the car started, let it run till it is up to temp and try to get everything dried. Well this will give you some ideas to check. I hope this helps and good luck! Linda
