Mitsubishi Repair: Brake and Battery Light, throttle position sensor, sensor tps

Question
A couple of weeks ago I turned my car on and my brake and battery light remain on. I have a 2000 Eclipse GT with about 89000 miles on it. I changed the battery b/c it was an old one and the auto store said it was dead and could not be recharged. It turns on now, but the light is still on and I'm afraid that the new battery is going to die. When the problem started a couple of weeks ago on the drive home the car began to idle really high and wanted to keep going forward even when I was stopped at a light. I parked the car and that is when I took the battery in for checking. Any ideas...

Answer
Claudio: When the lights come on, it because the car's computer has picked up a problem in the system; therefore turns them on so you will know. If you have an AutoZone close by, I would have the car coded to rule out any problem with a sensor or the computer. Could be your need to have the computer reset to remove that light. I really think your car is not that old, so I would take it to a shop; "about the wanting to go forward even when stopped at a light". Sounds like a sensor that is not working right, as your car has a throttle position sensor(TPS) could be that is not working right and so your car is getting to much throttle. It is something you should get checked, or it might cause a crash. Hope this helps you and good luck! Linda
