Mitsubishi Repair: 1997 Mit. Montero Sport LS 3.0L Airflow meter, airflow meter, montero sport

Question
I need to know where to locate the Airflow meter on our Mit. Montero Sport. We were told that it needed to be changed. We found the part on-line but my husband does not know where this part is located on the vehicle since this is the first time we have owned one.

Answer
Tara: First let me say if you two are going to do your own work on your car. Then you need to go to a parts store and buy yourself a repair manual for your car, they cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. This will walk you through all kinds of things on your car. Mean while this is how you change that airflow meter on your car... first off it is located in the air cleaner housing.Take your new part out it's box and look at it. That way, you will be able to find the old part and put in the new part. Remove the air filter, disconnect the electrical connector from the meter. Loosen the hose clamp. Remove the screws that retain the airflow meter to the housing. Separate the airflow meter from the air cleaner housing. Installation is the reverse of the removal. Then to clear that code off your computer, you will have to either try by removing the neg. cable off the battery for 5 mintues and then put it back on. If that does not work, go back to whoever told you that you need this part and have them decode the computer. Hope this helps and good luck!
