Mitsubishi Repair: Service Engine Soon light ON, intake air temperature sensor, intake air temperature

Question
My 2000 Eclipse is the worst car ever. Never wants to start and now the Service Engine Soon light stays on all the time. How can I disable it for good? I'm sick of this sorry car. Every mechanic I take it to says there is nothing wrong with it, but I can't get it to start most of the time. Especially in cold weather.

Answer
Tammy: With that check engine light being on, your car's computer is telling you one of the car's sensor is out. Or maybe more. Take your car to AutoZone and have it coded. They will do this for free and then you will have a print out to know which sensor is the problem.I get so tired of the way mechanic treat people, there is something wrong with that car of your's. You know it and they do, too but most are to darn lazy to find out what it is. My son had a car just like your's it started kind of good in the warm or hot weather but if it got cold. Forget it, in his car the intake air temperature sensor was out and the Barometric sensor. You should also have your car tuned up, new stark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor that would help a lot. But watch that mechanic ask to see all the old parts he took off your car, I have heard over and over again from woman that the mechanic said he did all that work. But really did nothing more than to charge them an arm and leg; also go up on line and check for recalls there are some these newer cars. That might be your problem too. But I really think there is a sensor or more out; your car goes down the road by stark, air and fuel but the computer has to put all that together in a matter of a few seconds by what all those sensors tell the computer. So if one or more is out or bad. The computer will not let the car start right. So have your car coded and get that sensor(s) fixed. Then AutoZone will also reset the computer in your car once you get whatever sensor(s) is bad in your car. I do hope this helps you and good luck!
