Mitsubishi Repair: Car stalls when idle, crank angle sensor, crankshaft sensor

Question
My 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse (V4, 1.8L, single overhead cam, automatic) will not stay running. Originally, it would not start. The fuel filter, spark plugs, crankshaft sensor, and distributor cap have been replaced. Each time a new part is put in, the car runs for a short period of time, 20-30 minutes, shuts itself off, and refuses to run again. The car was running okay until a friend tried to tune it and reversed the spark plug order. That was corrected; the car still will not run for me. Can you help me out?

Answer
Christopher: Hello. First off are you sure you got the right distributor cap for your car? Have you had the timing checked, you said a friend put messed up the spark plug order but that was corrected are you sure that was done right? Could be your computer is bad, turns out Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers and the company that made them; did not do a every good job. A piece in the computer will start to leak and then with time kills off the computer. If you could get the car to an AutoZone they would code your car for free and that would rule out the computer or sensors. It take three things for an engine to run, fuel, stark and air. My repair manual has this to say about this problem... loose or faulty electrical connections at distributor(or crank angle sensor), coil or alternator., insufficient fuel reaching the fuel injector(s), vacuum leak at the gasket between the intake manifold and throttle body or between the intake manifold and engine. Have you checked the belts in that they are tight as they should be? I have got cars in that someone tried to change their own stark plugs and wires, but did not get it right. The car would just kind of run. You can when trying to start the car, turn the distributor cap, till the car runs better. It is something that you need a friend or another person to help you with. And becareful of the belts not to get something caught in them. You might be able to get the car to run that way. Other wise then it is something other than the timing. When you say running do you mean running good, or kind of running? Could be your timing belt or chain got damaged when the stark plug order was messed up. You maybe should have that checked if you can not get the car to stay running. Have you had the fuel pump tested it might be bad. How about the battery and it's cables are they in good shape? I hope this helps and good luck!
