Mitsubishi Repair: 2000 Mit Mont Spt Sluggish and hesitates, vacuum leaks, emission control system

Question
I have a Y2000 Mit Mont Spt 3.0 L with a 6G72 24 valve engine. When I am driving in town, the engine hesistates when I am accelerating.  In addition, while stopped or in park, the idle is sometimes rough.

Lastly, the engine seems to be sluggish (under powered).

Can you offer any suggestions to trouble shoot the problem(s)?

Thanks

Answer
Chris: I can give you some ideas to check on the sluggish well under power and you might be able to find the problem. It is a list... incorrect ignition timing, excessive play in distributor shaft, worn rotor, distributor cap or wires, bad stark plugs, fuel injection system out of adjustment, fauty coil, brakes binding, automatic transaxle fluid level incorrect, fuel filter clogged and/or impurties in the fuel system, emission control system not funcioning properly, low or unever cylinder compression pressures, obstructed exhaust system and vacuum leaks. Mitsubishi has been known to farm the building of their computers to another company and that company did not build such good computers. Sometimes these computers going bad, shows up in how your car idles. So if you have an AutoZone close by they will code your car for free, that would show if any of your car's sensors are getting weak or if the computer is going. There is three things for making an engine run; fuel, air and stark. But then the computer has to mix all of those things together right so your engine will run right. But always check the easy things first but then you will either have to take the car to a shop. Or buy yourself a repair manual and check the problems out yourself. You can get a repair manual at any parts store for around $20.00. Hope this helps and good luck. But also Merry Christmas....
