Mitsubishi Repair: Tranny/clutch issue, bearing retainer, shift linkage

Question
I have a 1992 Eclipse.  In the past, when it was cold outside,  it was difficult to get into 2nd gear.  In the summer, no problems.  Eventually, the car became worse.  It pops out of 3rd and 5th and will not go into 4th.  When giving more gas to accel quicker in 3rd or 5th, it seems like the clutch engages because te engine revs and RPMs rise but the car accel slowly.  I was wondering if this sounds like an blown tranny or something fixable.

Answer
Justin: Let me say cars always work pretty good in the warm weather but as soon as Winter comes; then those things cause problems. So the cold weather is hard on things. But my repair book says this about your problem and so it could be a lot of different thing... worn or improperly adjusted linkage, transaxle loose on engine, shift linkage does not work freely, binds, input gear bearing retainer broken or loose, dirt between clutch cover and engine housing, worn shift fork. I would say you need to get yourself a repair manual, can buy one at any parts store for around $20.00. It is well worth the money. I do not think it is a blown tranny but rather something fixable. Hope this helps and good luck!
