Mitsubishi Repair: Heat problem, vacuum leak, many different things

Question
The heat in my 2003 mitsubishi lancer is not working.  At first the knob wouldnt turn to the heat side, but then I forced it to turn to heat and it still doesnt work.  What can be done?  Please help if you can, thanks in advance.

Answer
Brian: It could be one of many different things. I would if I was you go get a repair manual for your car. You can get one at any parts store for around $20.00. Because I think you either have a vacuum leak for that is what controls the movement of vents in your car's heater. Or else you should have your thermostat replaced, they go out mostly just as Winter starts. Any shop can do that for you, have they check your water at that time too. Then again the shop could find that vacuum leak for you too. Hope this helps and good luck!
