Mitsubishi Repair: 98 Eclipse GS-T, master brake cylinder, brake master cylinder

Question
I was on my way home from a friends house in the snow and slush when all of a sudden my brake light turns on while im driving. I was told it could be from snow and ice getting on the brakes, So I let it sit in my garage for a few days to melt, but the light is still on. Now when I turn on the car, the belts make a screech sound. Its really bad when I turn the wheel, but if I let the wheel sit straight, it doesn't make that sound as bad. And also, the steering is harder then it should be. So I don't know what would have caused the break light to come on, the belt to make a sound and my steering to be ruff all in the same night. Could it be from the sudden cold weather? Please help. Thanks for your time.

Answer
Brian: Check your brake fluid! If your brake light came on, your brake fluid is low or else there is something wrong with your master brake cylinder,  so it needs to be worked on. Take it to a shop. With the belts, check your power steering oil to see if you might need some of that. Or else one of your belts is slipping. Or power steering pump could be bad. I got to say things get weak, but hang in there during the warm weather. But as soon as the Winter weather with the cold comes in, then things start to break down. So take your car to a shop someplace and get these things checked. Or else buy yourself a repair manual and so it yourself. You could do the checking of the brake fluid and the power steering oil. Also check to see if your belt is old and so breaking apart. But the brake master cylinder should be done by a shop. Hope this helps and good luck.
