Answer
Jon: You have to have a short someplace in your car. You need to get a manual that is a repair manual for your car and then a voltmeter. You then need to start with the battery and work your way through the starting wiring. Could be you have a stark plug wire that is bad and so shorting things out. Or a cable on your battery, or a starter relay. When is the last time you did a tune up. And why did you decide your problem was just the distributor? Is the "check engine" light on? If so then it could be a sensor or your computer. You need to have your car coded, got an AutoZone close? They will code your car for free, that would explain if any sensors or your computer is bad. The computer can only work as good as it's sensors are. But then your car zips down the road, the battery powers the coil, distributor, rotor fires the stark plugs, but you need good wires for this power to get to them. Of course the fuel and air mix too. Hope this helps and good luck!
