Mitsubishi Repair: 1994 Eagle Talon, head gasket sealer, junk yards

Question
My girlfriend's Talon recently blew a head gasket. There was oil in the water. The guy I bought it from is a retired Mazda mechanic and does all my work. He replaced the head gasket but did not get the head plained as he put a level on it and said it looked ok. It is still overheating and haas oil in the water. The mechanic said it would take a while and maybe several more flusings before it would be completely out. In the meantime he retourqued the head and put bars head gasket sealer in it. The car seemed to be fixed but has started overheating again. I took the thermostat out and ran the engine to see if was getting a good water flow to eliminate the radiator and the water pump. The water was gurguling, splashing up and bubling then seemed to settle down. I could then see the water flowing. My Mechaninc says the head may be cracked. She paid $1400.00 for the car and has already paid $575.00 in additioinal repairs. I am going to try an additive to seal cracks but now the car is also sputtering when you give it the gas. Can you advixe?

Answer
Terry: I would replace the engine, she has already paid $575.00 out and still having problems. I think the head is cracked and I don't think you will get it fixed. Do you or her want to keep putting more money into this car? If so then put another engine into it. You could go to a junk yard and pick one up there. I know there are all kinds of these cars in junk yards. That is what I would do. Hope this helps and good luck!
