Honda: Modified Tail Pipe, dean thomas, honda civic ex

I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX.  Does a modified tail pipe really make a difference in regards to performance or is it just a waste of money?  I think my car has a fast enough pickup speed but does changing the tail pipe really make a difference?

No it doesn't really it produces about 2-5 hporsepower if you want decent power from the exhaust get a straight through system with headers aka extractors and it will really improve the performance get A DC sport system as it gives great power gains and an awesome noise.
