Mitsubishi Repair: CV joint problem, cv shaft, eclipse gsx

Question
Hi, I have a 95 Eclipse GSX. I need a new front drivers side cv shaft. my old shaft had a female end on the inner cv housing that slides onto the intermediate shaft.
Everytime I order a new CV shaft, it comes with male ends.
2 different places. Are they sending me the wrong part, or do I have an oddball axle setup?
any manual I look in does not show the joint in detail.

Answer
Chris:You need to get a Chilton's repair manual for your car, it shows the CV shaft and how it goes together. If you don't want to buy the manual, check with your library. If they won't let you check it out, make copies of the pages you need. If that does not help you, you need to check with a junk yard. Most have junk cars like your's and you can look at their cv shafts. Could be someone did a oddball axle setup on your car or else your car has the wrong numbers, or you are giving them the wrong number. But check with the manual. Now this is a repair manual, not the one what comes with the car when you first get it. Other wise you will have to take it to a shop. Hope this helps and good luck!
