Mitsubishi Repair: Ignition on 2000 Montero, key moves, new keys

Question
Hi there,
The ignition switch has gotten "stuck" recently.  The key isn't able to turn, literally.  This has happened 2-3 times recently and a few minutes of jiggling has worked in the past.  However, today it is stuck and isn't coming free.  Have tried WD-40 to no avail.  The key moves in and out easily, but doesn't turn.  We have tried multiple keys, but all have the same result.  Suggestions?

Answer
Paul:Because your car is new enough to have an air bag, you really need to get a shop to fix this. I think your ignition switch has broken. I would say it will have to be replaced and you will have to start out with new keys. My son did have this happen to him, but his car was older. He got a locksmith to come, the locksmith replaced the switch, my son got a different key and when he sold the car it was working fine. But that car did not have an air bag. You should get a manual for your car and you would understand it better. If WD-40 did not break it free, I would say it has broken. Hope this helps and good luck!
