Mitsubishi Repair: 95 eclipse transmission, shift levers, shift fork

Question
I have a 95 eclipse RS non turbo I just had the transmission rebuilt with new syncros in another state. After 2 weeks of driving the transmission will not shift into 5th or reverse. the linkage on the transmission appears to be jammed and wont shift to the far position to select 5th or reverse nor will the shifter slide all the way to the right. I removed the cable and the shifter will move fine when removed so it is apparently in the trans. What could be the problem?

Answer
Mark,
You may want to have a transmission shop inspect the select and shift levers on your transmission.  Usually when 2 gears that are right on top of each other both go out, that indicates an internal problem.  It could be a broken shift fork or a bad bearing.  This is probably not the news you wanted to hear, but you'll definitely want a tranny shop to inspect the problem.
Good luck!
