Mitsubishi Repair: 3000GT dies suddenly - clicking from passenger footwell area, air fuel ratio, power relay

Question
I have about 150K on my '91 3000GT SL and it recently started dying at random times.  The first time this happened, I heard a click from somewhere near the passenger footwell and then the engine died and all the dash lights came on like I had just turned the key on without starting the motor.  After letting the car sit for several minutes and trying to start it a few times, it slowly started to jerk back to life and I was able to drive it the 25 miles home.   it ran fine for a few more days and then did the same thing again.  It almost sounds like the power relay to the ECU is starting to fail but wanted to get your opinion before ripping intothe center console.

Answer
I dont think your realy for your ECU is under your glove box...I may be wrong..but start car, and try to replicate problem and get a buddy to help you look and listen...this is a tricky one..any mechanic will tell you, when it comes to electrical work, the only thing you can do is start troubleshooting..Being that your car is 91 with 150K it could really be any wiring harness shorting out and cause you to hear other things shorting out..you feel me??Check all your fuses..get a tester light it will come in handy! Im not sure on your car model but on other cars, I have heard that when your oil pump is faulty, you can sometimes hear it make noise, same with fuel pump...Also if your just straight up dying while driving..on some models if the car starts to missfire the car will turn off instead off keep missfiring and blow up!! So check your spark/fire and air/fuel ratio!

Good Luck!
