Mitsubishi Repair: Engine misfire, plug gap, fuel ratios

Question
Hi, this might be a tricky one for you, i have a Mitsubishi Gto Twin Turbo and there is a engine misfire, the plugs, leads and coil pack changed with genuine parts and the problem still persists. Mostly noticeable when you accelerate gently as it reaches about 2500 rpm it misfires badly. If you accelerate hard tere is no misfire. If you leave the car standing and gently bring the revs up it misfires, not at idle though. I'm totaly stumped as are quite a few mechanics, any ideas?

Thanks

Adam

Answer
This one is a tricky one...Check your wiring harness from coil and also the connector at the coil...also try lowering you spark plug gap maybe not enough SPARK! You might want to try increasing the gap also..maybe to much SPARK...when  a engine missfires its because of the mixture of air, fuel, and oil is not balanced. The air/fuel ratios are set and monitored by your ECU, but I bet your having NO engine light coming on becaue the missfire is only sometimes...thherfore it sounds like a SPARK problem..Also try running some injector cleaner through the gas system..

Good Luck!
