Mitsubishi Repair: Horn / Airbag, steering wheel, auto zone

Question
I just took by 2001 Mirage to the dealership to have the horn fixed/replaced.  I pulled the fuse awhile back due to the horn not shutting off.  They are now telling me that the air bag and horn come as one assembly and they have to replace the entire unit, which costs ~$700 for the part alone.  Does this design sound right.  Doesn't seem to smart to have to replace the airbag whenever the horn goes bad, and then spend $800 total to have it fixed.

Thanks for any help.

Answer
NOpe...they are lying to you...The only reason why you would have to replace air bag and whole steering wheel, is if there was a short inside the steering wheel it self...the wire is smashed in side the steering wheel making it stay on...keep messing with it, maybe get a flat head and see if you can make it go off.... but as far as that CROOKED DEALERSHIP GOES....to get to the wiring you have to take the steering wheel apart and streeing column apart...therefore this may set air bag off or they might make a mistake and it wont engage when needed....so to save time and waste your money they will sell you the whole part steering wheel and all to cover their asses, and just replace the whole thing.....I would SAY NO FRICKEN DICE ON THAT STUPID DEALERSHIP!!! Thats just messed up!! They will get yah...if you let them!! Go buy and aftermarket horn and hook it up your self..go to auto zone, they can help you find a aftermarket horn and button you can mount anywhere close to push while driving!! You will save $680 on the part and save $800 on the labor! Just follow directions for aftermarket horn!

Good Luck!
